The Age of “Energy”
Scientific interest in the field of mind-body medicine is rapidly expanding all over the world. Research on the human energy system and the effect of natural energy forces within the body are the focus of numerous studies in healing, health and well-being.
Current research continues to validate and explain the beneficial effects of energetic modalities in health care. These approaches are expanding into the cultural mainstream, moving from what once considered the scientific fringe. Much of this shift in scientific thought is attributable to current discoveries in quantum physics.

Research and Network Spinal Analysis
From the feather-light contacts and the wave-like movements generated in patients spines, to the reports of patients having awakening experiences, NSA has been praised as the cutting edge of mind-body healing and also mocked as quackery.
As the stories of life-changing experiences of NSA patients began to spread, the Association for Network Care, along with the University of California Irvine Medical College devised research to study the impact of NSA care on quality of life. Over 2,800 patients participated. The results proved that NSA had a significant effect on the self-reported quality of life in a majority of the patients in the study.
This research demonstrated 76% of the patients had improved health and wellness in four different areas: their physical state, mental/emotional state, stress evaluation and life enjoyment. Typically, in health care research, there is a limit to the benefits of care. What is remarkable about this study is that the longer the patients were in care, the more improvement they had, with no apparent limit. This finding is extremely rare in health care research.
Network Spinal Analysis Care – Literature Review
Even though the UC Medical School study showed that NSA care had significant impact on patients’ health and wellness, it didn’t explain the physiology of how that improvement occurred.
This led to the NSA research done by Edmund Jonckheere Ph.D. and his colleagues in the Department of Electrical Engineering-Systems at the University of Southern California. Jonckeere and his team studied the signals recorded along the spines of patients during NSA sessions with a device called surface Electromyography.
These studies determined a definitive relationship between the wave motions created during an NSA session and a patient’s improvement and progress over time, their “level of care”.
Dynamic modeling of spinal electromyographic activity during various conditions
This research led Jonckeere to write “The main conclusion is that the sEMG signal of NSA reveals a new class of complex nonlinear dynamic behavior.”
This means that the Electromyography signals that Jonckeere’s team measured clearly showed that NSA care resulted in the brain and body developing an entirely new pattern of behavior with a global effect. Again, this is an unusual and remarkable conclusion.
How is it that this new nervous system pattern creates such dramatic improvement in the patient’s quality of life? Professor Jonckeere and his team are currently conducting further research on patients undergoing NSA care, and have presented their findings in publications and conferences internationally.
Rigorous study and a growing body of research is necessary for any methodology to be accepted by the scientific community. The NSA method is no exception, and much further research is needed.
